On Aug. 9, in preparation for an important four-game series against the Twins, the Guardians made several roster moves. One of them involved bringing Brennan, a left-handed hitter, back to the big leagues. In seven games since his recall, Brennan is batting .440 to equal a career long hitting streak. Vogt is a proponent of playing all 12 of his position players, but he’ll play the hot hand as well. Brennan is hot right now and he’s seeing regular playing time in right or center field.Brennan has a simple reason for his recent success at the plate.It also helps to hit in the second spot between leadoff hitter Steven Kwan and No. 3 hitter Jose Ramirez.
“I think he’s one of the best defensive first baseman in baseball ... and he works at it,” said Vogt.Former Guardians right-hander Aaron Civale beat his old club Friday with six scoreless innings. He struck out four and walked one.
