TrueBridge is a venture capital investment firm managing more than $6 billion in assets. TrueBridge invests in venture funds and directly in select venture and growth-stage technology companies. TrueBridge is the data partner behind the Forbes Midas List, Midas List Europe, Midas Seed List, and Next Billion-Dollar Startups.

Since 2015, the Next Billion-Dollar Startups , produced in partnership with TrueBridge Capital, has sought to recognize venture-backed companies that are not only growing rapidly, but also have staying power.

With more than 55,000 venture-funded private companies in the market today, selecting the 25 companies with the best potential to hit unicorn status–a valuation of $1 billion–is a challenging and exciting task. To qualify for consideration, companies must be based in the United States, defined as having their headquarters or CEO domiciled in the U.S. They also must be private and venture-backed, have a current valuation of less than $1 billion and be willing to submit data for analysis. While we regularly review the analytical model and overall methodology used to determine the Next Billion-Dollar Startups, it has remained relatively unchanged since we first launched the list a decade ago. We begin the process by soliciting submissions from prominent venture investors, asking them to nominate their most promising companies. We also perform direct outreach to many companies we think are strong candidates for the list.As data partner for the list, TrueBridge receives the confidential submission data and runs a comprehensive analytical model to produce the list, which is then shared with. With this partnership, companies can feel confident in submitting sensitive information including financial metrics like valuation and revenue. Any data that is ultimately included in the Next Billion-Dollar Startups story is provided directly toWWE Raw Results, Winners And Grades On August 12, 2024 Submitted data, as well as additional public information, form a set of analysis points for the Next Billion-Dollar Startups model. Numerous factors are considered, with some weighted more heavily than others. These include headcount, user/customer count, annual revenue numbers, company valuation and dollars raised, among others. The metrics themselves, as well as their rate of growth, provide the quantitative information for the list. We also review significant qualitative information, including the experience of founding teams and how companies differentiate themselves in the market. Our analysis team reviews the track record of the founders, as well as softer qualifications like leadership qualities and vision. We believe that assessing founders’ previous successes, strategic vision, and ability to navigate challenges provides a deeper understanding of any company’s potential. Examining how companies differentiate themselves from their peers illuminates the unique approaches or technologies they are using to address market needs. This is particularly important in a year like 2024, when a dearth of exit opportunities in the market is creating more competition for dollars and the dominance of generative AI leaves little breathing room for other sectors. As venture financing remains tight and only the strongest companies are able to secure dollars to continue their growth, the strength of founding teams is more critical than ever to the ultimate success of many startups. We hope that sharing the process for determining the list helps highlight those companies with outstanding growth and continued potential, as well as the visionary founders behind them. We also hope it calls attention to emerging investment and market trends that are being addressed by the brightest companies.
