Many Utah college students have become officers in the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps after participating in the University of Utah's NROTC unit — the only one of its kind in landlocked Utah.

<p>SALT LAKE CITY — Wasatch County is home to several sizable bodies of water such as Jordanelle, Echo and Deer Creek reservoirs.

But Ethan Ogzewalla's hometown of Heber City is still hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean or naval base.</p><p>No matter — the sailor's life is the life for Ogzewalla.</p><p>&quot;I, 100%, wanted to join the Navy right out of high school and go the officer route,&quot; he told the Deseret News.</p><p>The University of Utah's Naval ROTC has checked all the boxes for Navy Midshipman Ogzewalla.</p><p>He was able to remain in the Beehive State, pursue his undergraduate degree at a civilian university and participate in a military training program that will soon end with him accepting an officer's commission in the U.S. Navy.</p><figure> <div class="single_image" style="cursor: pointer;" title="The small sign marking the office of NROTC commanding officer Capt.
