His body remains trapped in the cave to this day.
Utah’s Nutty Putty Cave became the site of a horrific tragedy When 26-year-old John Edward Jones went on a spelunking trip to Utah’s famous Nutty Putty cave in November 2009, he never expected to become an urban legend. But after his caving adventure went horribly wrong, Jones suffered one of ‘the most horrifying deaths imaginable’ when he became trapped upside-down in a terrifyingly small crevice.
Attempts to free himself only made John slide deeper into the hole, and he soon found himself trapped upside-down, with his hands pinned to his chest, in a crevice which measured just 10 by 18 inches- smaller than the entrance to a front-loading washing machine. At this point, all he could do was wait and pray. The rescue John’s brother Josh was the first one to find him.
