The tree will stay on display at Rockefeller Plaza until mid-January. Here’s what to know. How to Watch the 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony This year’s ceremony will kick off on Wednesday Dec. 3 during the live “Christmas in Rockefeller Center” broadcast on NBC and streaming on Peacock simultaneously. TODAY.com and Peacock share a parent company. What Time Is the 2025 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony The special, hosted by Reba McEntire, will start at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will end at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Those watching on NBC can stick around for a country music-themed special starting at 10 p.m. ET/PT: 'Christmas in Nashville' will be hosted by Trisha Yearwood. It will stream on Peacock on Dec. 4. What Type of Tree Is on Display at Rockefeller Center in 2025? This year’s tree is a Norway spruce donated by a family in East Greenbush, New York. The tree arrived in New York City on Nov. 8. Erik Pauze, Rockefeller Center head gardener, said he knew that this year’s tree was something to behold after he saw a photo of it sitting on the Russ family’s property. “As soon as I saw it, I knew it was perfect,” he told The Center Magazine. Pauze then got in touch with the Russ family, who agreed happily to donate the tree. Judy Russ said her husband, Dan Russ, who died in 2020 at the age of 32, would have been happy to see this moment. “As my husband has passed away, I know he would have loved to have been here for this moment,” Judy Russ told NBC correspondent Joe Fryer on TODAY. “We always talked about it being the tree. It’s so special that my family’s tree gets to be America’s, if not the world’s, Christmas tree.” Russ said that she plans on attending the tree lighting ceremony with her son, Liam. The duo will join the many visitors hoping to get a glimpse of the tree in all its glory. Last year's tree was also a Norway spruce.
