The top-rated Pitt volleyball team will host new ACC member No. 15 SMU on Wednesday night at the Fitzgerald Field House and then head to Dallas to finish the home-and-home series on Saturday.
The No. 1 Pitt volleyball team will welcome new ACC member No. 15 SMU to Fitzgerald Field House on Wednesday evening.The Panthers and Mustangs will compete for the first time this week. SMU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season, sweeping Texas State before losing to eventual national champion Texas.
The Panthers have rolled through the competition so far, including No. 13 Georgia Tech on Sept. 29. In that 3-0 sweep, they held the Yellow Jackets to less than 20 points in each set. It was the first time this season Georgia Tech had been held to a sub .200 hitting percentage . Meanwhile, the Panthers recorded a season-high 12 blocks in the three-set win.
SMU, meanwhile, is finishing up a seven-game stretch away from home. The Mustangs have started off the conference season 4-0 with wins over No. 13 Georgia Tech, Clemson, Syracuse and Boston College.
