How to Train Your Dragon live action Toothless staring down Hiccup

The first trailer has been revealed for the new How to Train Your Dragon film. The story of Hiccup and Toothless originated as a DreamWorks animated film in 2010. From there, How to Train Your Dragon became a film trilogy that included How to Train Your Dragon 2 in 2014 and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World in 2019.
✕ Remove Ads What This Means For How To Train Your Dragon Based on this trailer for How to Train Your Dragon, it seems like the live-action version of the story will follow a very similar structure as the animated film. Like the animated movie, in order to prove himself as a Viking, Hiccup attempts to slay a dragon, but cannot bring himself to do so when he sees the soulful eyes of Toothless for the first time.
In addition to the story similarity, there are a number of elements that are mimicked fairly directly from the animated film. The trailer's conclusion, for examples, features the iconic shot in which Hiccup calmly lays his hand on Toothless' snout. The score in the end of the trailer also sounds nearly identical to that of the Oscar-nominated original score from the first movie. The latter element makes sense, becuase composer John Powell is returning for the live-action film.
