Stylist Allison Bornstein shares how to style the best trends from the fall 2026 runways with pieces you probably already have in your closet. How to wear the best trends from Chanel, Dior, Jil Sander, Chloé, and more shows.
Are there any fall/winter 2026 runway trends I can try without dropping thousands of dollars? And if so, how can I make them more wearable?Yes! I’ve been screenshotting all my favorite runway looks throughout fashion month and have so many ideas about how to re-create them, so let’s dive in.
Keep in mind, these are the trends that resonated with me and my personal style, not necessarily the ones that were the most prevalent this season. Post–fashion month, now is the time to comb through each show and curate your own trend report. Look through runway photos and videos — before scrolling through your social-media feed — if you really want to discover what you love and what you don’t. And if you don’t know where to start: Many of my favorite looks from the fall runways look vintage; Connor Ives, Dior, Chanel, and Chloé all showed looks that can be re-created using pieces found at a vintage store. If you’re not the best at shopping secondhand, focus on shopping for pieces that call back to the original reference rather than shopping for designer dupes. So if you loved Jonathan Anderson’s Dior collection, for example, look for clothes that evoke the essence of Claude Monet’sor the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris, both of which served as inspiration for the collection. This is subjective, but look for pieces that have similar color palettes, patterns, and textures.and trainlike. Instead of a silk scarf, achieve a look similar to the ones shown at Kallmeyer and Dior by tying a full-length scarf or sash around your waist and styling it with a pair of jeans. I tried this trend with a black T-shirt dress and an extra-long black scarf and loved how it turned out. Wearing a makeshift asymmetrical train felt so fun, modern, and fancy. This season’s fresh interpretation of the drop-waist trend is all about lowering the belt, inspired by the styling at Chanel. If you’re not into low-slung pants and skirts, placing a belt at the hips or below is a great way to achieve the drop-waist look without sacrificing on coverage and comfort. And you definitely don’t have to place it around the thighs like what was shown at Chanel; simply moving it down a few inches will do the trick. Think Kate Moss in the ’90s.You might not have a dress like this in your closet, but you probably own a voluminous, A-line skirt. Simply wear it as a dress and voilà! You’ve got yourself a Jil Sander look for less. Pair with boho jewelry and you are good to go.Yes, the dress/skirt-over-pants trend is still going strong. Zhuzh it up for spring by choosing an asymmetrical skirt or dress to create that runway-inspired train effect. Wearing a straight-leg pant or jean underneath will accentuate the volume of the skirt .We all know brooches are trending, and the oversize versions shown at Chanel and Altuzarra are particularly good. You could purchase one on Etsy but why not make it yourself instead? My friend is hosting a brooch-making party for her birthday soon and I thought that was such a fun idea. It’s easy and affordable. Plus, many of the floral brooches shown on the runway had a certain artisanal, DIY quality to them that’s best achieved with a hot-glue gun and some feathers. To ensure your look says “fashion” and “Chanel inspired” not “Hobby Lobby,” pair the brooch with simple, no-frills pieces.Like, literally: I’m breaking out my clunkiest, charm-iest necklaces for spring. Celine showed chunky necklaces that look like the ones your favorite art teacher wore in middle school. These also work best when styled with something sleek or structured to make the look feel intentional and offset the kitschiness. Are Repetto Ballet Shoes Worth It?Our Editors’ Favorite Picks During Amazon’s Big Spring Sale: Day 3The Woman Sending Her Friend’s Feet Pics to a GuyYesterday at 5:25 p.m.At the iHeartRadio Awards, the pair marked their awards-show debut as a couple with plenty of kissing and celebrity photo ops.Including under-$50 Levi’s for women and men, our best overall and best less-expensive bed pillows, and lots of our longtime favorite beauty products.A new report says the Defense secretary overstepped his role to prevent two women and two Black men from being promoted to one-star general. We invited musicians, artists, and tastemakers to ask the elusive pop legend anything — absolutely anything — ahead of the release ofIt’s not a waste of anyone’s time to show up and flirt a little, spark or not.
