The trailer features Hugo Weaving, a cameo from rapper Briggs, and a dollop of tomato sauce for sweetness and that extra tang.

Based on Paul Kelly's 1996 song, How To Make Gravy tells of a newly imprisoned man spending Christmas away from his family. How To Make Gravy , Paul Kelly's classic Christmas anthem, has been adapted into a movie that's arriving this December. Today, we get our first look with the official trailer.

The How To Make Gravy trailer also introduces new characters not referenced in the song, including Noel, a prisoner played by Australian screen icon Hugo Weaving . "It's a uniquely Australian story, made for film lovers and music fans alike," the duo said in a statement. Writing in his memoir, also titled How To Make Gravy, Kelly recalls the reservations around such a sad song making it onto a Christmas album, telling Fields:It's one of the rare Christmas songs that sounds good any time of year.
