What that means for the award show is that, for one, some Emmy winners will receive their awards in-person, via hazmat tuxedo-wearing presenters visiting their homes. Yep —, the show worked with costume designer Katja Cahill and executive producer Guy Carrington to create hazmat suit formal wear to deliver certain awards live.
Meanwhile, the outlet reported that producers sent camera kits — featuring monitors and ring lights — to 130 nominees for them to film from their homes. “There’s a tremendous amount of risk in what we’re doing. We’re pushing the technology to its absolute limits," Emmys executive producer Reginald HudlinFellow executive producer Ian Stewart added, “It’s not going to work properly all the time. It’s just not. We’re doing it because this has been an extraordinary time.
