Here's how the Northeast is deciding when to re-open with COVID-19:
So how is this coalition proceeding with deciding when and how to re-open the economy? Well, the stated intention of the coalition in making such “re-opening” decisions will be to use, drum roll please, science and data. Yes, not feelings, not gut instinct, not listening to who may help you get re-elected, but the “best available scientific, statistical, social and economic information.”
This isn’t the only State coalition that’s been formed. Around the same time, Oregon’s Kate Brown, California’s Gavin Newsom, and Washington’s Jay Inslee, which has subsequently been joined by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and Colorado Governor Jared Polis joined this group. Then there’s the Midwestern State coalition formed later in April consisting of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Illinois Governor J.
Besser mentioned how there is a “much higher representation of Blacks and Latinos among the essential workers.” That means that many racial minorities may be at greater risk of getting exposed to the virus. Inequities can greatly limit the success of other infection prevention and control measures as well.
