Texas and guard Tyrese Hunter turned up their defense in second half against TCU on March 1 and haven't lost since.KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rodney Terry knew Texas was better — much better — than what it showed on defense after getting lit up by TCU for 20 minutes back on March 1. So when the Longhorns drifted back to the visiting locker room at Schollmaier Arena trailing 44-32, the interim head coach decided this group needed some rousing.
“We’ve been locked in on defensive since that second half of the TCU game because, you know, we didn't accomplish our goal at that point,” Disu said. “It kind of left a bad taste in our mouth and we don't want that to happen again.” “We just need to be us,” sophomore guard Tyrese Hunter said. “We want to slow them down, play at our pace and just be aggressive, take them out of their actions. It’s all gonna come down to 1-on-1 defense and the little things – who wants to dive on the floor, what guards are going to come down and rebound, what bigs are boxing out, who’s going to take care of the ball. It’s all the little detail things.
