Genndy Tartakovsky’s original Star Wars: Clone Wars series is still beloved by many, and there’s a unique way it can still be considered canon.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries from 2003 is easily one of the innovative and visually unique projects in the franchise. Nevertheless, Dave Filoni’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars ultimately ended up building upon and replacing Tartakovsky’s vivid vision for what occurred between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. There are plenty of discrepancies between the two shows that can’t be reconciled.
George Lucas initially met with Tartakovsky to discuss important characters and details the microseries was to include, but many of his ideas ended up evolving and changing before Revenge of the Sith. For example, Tartakovsky’s terrifying portrayal of General Grievous was later contradicted by Lucas’ cowardly version in the prequels. Lucas ended up becoming much more involved with The Clone Wars than he was with Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars.
