Law & Order: SVU season 28 introduces a new character who could be a huge catalyst for pushing Benson and Stabler into a more consistent, legitimate romance. At the very least, presenting a new perspective into the mix could prove to be a necessary catalyst for Benson to see her true feelings.
For over 20 years, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has been defined by the relationship between Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), and the upcoming season may finally present a catalyst to finally bring them together romantically.
Benson and Stabler's Long-Delayed Romance
Since Meloni left SVU in 2011, the series has worked hard to reunite the former partners and keep their emotional bond alive, even when Stabler wasn't a consistent part of the Law & Order universe. The franchise has long teased out the pair's unexplored and unresolved feelings, both in moments where they felt appropriate and moments where they weren't.
With things intensifying throughout the run of Law & Order: Organized Crime, which Meloni led as Stabler and saw Benson cross over to frequently, the pair has seen some major emotional complications that, thankfully, haven't managed to get in the way of their work. Despite the progress in seeing the characters together more frequently over the past few years, both on SVU and OC, Benson and Stabler have been in the same place for quite some time when it comes to their interpersonal relationship.
Season 28 Character Could Spark Romance
There's always been a hesitation for the pair, but a wrench could be in the works. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season 28 will be introducing a new character who could be a huge catalyst for pushing Benson and Stabler into a more consistent, legitimate romance.
At the very least, presenting a new perspective into the mix could prove to be a necessary catalyst for Benson to see her true feelings. 184 9.1/10 Law & Order: Special Victims Unit 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-14 Crime Drama Mystery Release Date September 20, 1999 Network NBC Showrunner Michael S.
