In July of 2016, Pinterest announced specific goals and programs to improve and enhance inclusiveness at the company.
Fluker: Share why Diversity and Inclusion are extremely important within Silicon Valley. What more needs to be done?Diverse teams strengthen companies in that new information and perspectives are tied to innovation, which is vital to create better products. That’s something that extends beyond Silicon Valley. For Pinterest, it’s our very mission that we build a product that people of all backgrounds can use to discover things they love.
The culture at Pinterest is unique, as people bring their passions from outside work inside to foster more creativity in all we do. Each year we host a two-day employee conference called Knit Con, where we teach each other new skills. Many also used it as an opportunity to share their cultures.
We also are constantly in thinking of our community of users and businesses who use Pinterest to reach their audiences. We get feedback from Pinners when building our products . I was thrilled to be a part of it and look forward to making it better and better.
