Here's how this restaurant entrepreneur is committing to mental health for chefs during Covid-19:

that’s committed to tackling the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health in kitchens.

And so, the congress’s theme this year will be #nósaspessoas and it will focus on the humanism necessary to face the current economic, social, health and humanitarian crises. For three days, more than 50 Portuguese and international chefs, journalists, and restaurant and tourism professional will give interviews, discussions, demonstrations and video. Everything will be broadcast free on YouTube, and some will be in English.

The emphasis on mental health will be present throughout, though things fall into three main pillars. First, Amado will premiere a documentary series that he produced with filmmaker Fábio Silva and photographer Theo Gould, which is a work about people from the sector, registered in a human and raw way, with personal and authentic testimonies.

Amado stresses the anonymity, noting that 20 people had already signed up by the time I spoke with him, the day before the official announcement. “People in the restaurant business can sign up on the Chefs’ Congress website,” he says. “It goes directly to the therapy company. I don’t want to know any details.”

And it’s just a start. “This year’s Chefs’ Congress it opening the door for this commitment and to get attention,” he says. “There will be a different theme next year, but will keep this movement. This project will continue. We are good at keeping on.”
