"I felt pressured to be perfect all the time, and it drained me. I was genuinely angry for a while because I was so concerned about what everyone else would think about me,""It became toxic.
In addition to feeling as though she has to be "on" all the time, Chloe noted the pressure that came with the world looking to her as a voice amid rising anti-Asian hate and violence in the United States. "In my everyday life, if something bothers me, I have to be really comfortable with a certain person to share my discomfort.," the Korean American athlete said. "So you could imagine how I felt when everyone was pressuring me to do it on social media."For Chloe, she had amazing role models within her Olympic community to be an example of standing up for what you believe.as well, for prioritizing their mental health," she noted.
