Oppenheimer star Matt Damon reveals he accidentally offended director Christopher Nolan after reading the script for the movie. The biographical thriller, which stars Cillian Murphy as real-life historical figure J. Robert Oppenheimer, is due in theaters on July 21. Damon plays Leslie Groves, the United States Army Corps of Engineers officer who was a director of the Manhattan Project, in which Oppenheimer masterminded the creation of the atomic bomb.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT During their conversation, Damon revealed that he told Nolan "I have no notes" after he originally read the script. Although he considered that a high compliment for any writer, he didn't find out until later, when Nolan met with Blunt, that the director considered that to be an unsatisfactory reaction.
But when Emily met with him like a week later, she was effusive in her praise and very articulate and he was like, “That’s better than what I got from Matt, I just got ‘he had no notes.’”
