Mandy Moore shares how her fertility journey, IVF, and pregnancies inspired her to partner with Perelel as part of its Perelel Universe campaign advocating for bridging the gender health care gap in an exclusive interiew.
Lara Walsh is a Chicago-based writer and editor who covers all things fashion, celebrity, pop culture, travel, and food. When she’s not avidly planning her next trip, she’s writing posts for her travel blog or mapping out her next foodie adventure., Mandy Moore has charmed audiences with her approachable demeanor and sunny personality. Even as she’s taken on more complex roles, including Rebecca Pearson in, the singer-turned-actress has maintained that down-to-earth It factor.
“The world at large is not there for women to support them during such a consequential time in any sense, and it can be a really lonely place,” Moore says about struggling with “bouncing back” mentally after giving birth. “I remember being so mind boggled after giving birth to Gus, my first kid, and I went back to work. Just the fact that people were like, ‘How are you? How's it going?’ We as mothers are just sort of expected to be like, ‘Good. Everything's great. It's amazing.
I feel lucky that I've had doctors to help me with the diagnosis and understand what it means specifically in pregnancy, which I was most concerned about. And now, being on my third pregnancy, it means that I have to deliver my baby in a slightly different way than I had sort of expected and hoped for. I think that comes along with parenthood. It's a good lesson: You just have to surrender, and things are going to unfold the way that they're supposed to.
Before this pregnancy, my husband and I were talking about the possibility of a third, and last summer we tried to do a round of IVF that didn't produce any embryos. So, I said to him and to the universe, ‘Okay, well, that was sort of our insurance plan and it didn't unfold the way that we expected, and that's totally okay.
. That wasn't the case, but she decided to come another way, and we're really grateful. Even in that case, I was continuing to learn about my body and how it functions, and the fact that I lucked out and had that good egg that month and that's why I'm here.
