Following Ghostface's triumphant return to screens last year, Scream 6 will see a whole host of new victims attempt to uncover the identity of yet another copycat killer. Melissa Barrera will return as Sam Carpenter while Ortega will reprise her role as her sister Tara.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY During the brief window between Scream and Scream 6, Ortega has seen her star rise after leading Netflix's new Addams Family-inspired series, Wednesday. Now, Scream 6 directors, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have teased that Ortega's breakout role actually influenced this upcoming horror.
Not in the subway, but there is Addams Family… So much of the tone and the fun of what this movie is, we think, is that all this crazy sh*t’s happening, but at any moment somebody wearing a ridiculous costume could walk through the shot. That for us is Scream in a nutshell. That the real world can enter and exit this really terrifying experience at any moment. And being in New York on Halloween, there were just so many opportunities for that.
Many were excited to hear that Scream 6 will offer a much more expanded role for Ortega's Tara, as the actress continues to establish herself as an up-and-coming scream queen. Scream 6 will see Ortega joined by Courteney Cox, Hayden Panettiere, Samara Weaving, Dermot Mulroney, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding as Ghostface appears to have followed them to the East Coast.
With Ortega likely still reeling from the success of Wednesday, the anticipation around Scream 6 is at an all-time high as many eagerly await to get their hands on this next installment. Although Scream 6 was filmed before Wednesday hit screens, the director's addition of a Wednesday easter egg is a fun little nod that is sure to delight those who manage to catch it. Audiences will have to keep an eye out for any Addams Family references when Scream 6 lands in theaters next month.
