Jalen Brunson is out at least another week, but Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said he is making “good, steady progress.”
The All-Star guard, who has been sidelined for the last eight games by a sprained right ankle, is doing “controlled court work” and his status will be updated again in approximately one week, the Knicks said.
“You are not replacing Jalen individually,” Thibodeau said. “It’s impossible. We have to do it collectively with our defense and rebounding and playing together.Back to the future: It sure does feel like 1985 in NYC sportsCam Payne started in place of McBride, who filled Brunson’s shoes the last seven games. But rookie Tyler Kolek played a new high of 18 minutes and finished with seven assists — all in the second quarter and most by feeding Mikal Bridges’ hot hand. “Once he made one, Ty found him again. He made another one,” Payne said. “It was big-time for us having Ty out there finding ’Kal constantly.”“I follow from afar,” Thibodeau said of St. John’s. “I watch them whenever I can. They had a heck of a season. Rick has done an incredible job there. The program is on its way. They had a phenomenal year.”for the job he did in his first year after leaving Kentucky.announced Friday on Instagram that he “won’t be replying to anyone” on social-media channels because “I’m getting ready for the playoffs.” “And to get things in order for myself and my life,” Robinson said. “I appreciate all of you for your support.” Robinson, who did not play last game against the Hornets because it was the second of a back-to-back and he is working his way back from injury, contributed four points and five rebounds in 17 minutes against the Wizards. “We talked about it as a team,” Thibodeau said. “As we’re heading down the stretch now, everyone needs to be focused on the things we need to focus on.”“I go by more actions,” Thibodeau said when asked about Robinson’s words.
