The final scene of Star Trek: Picard season 3 revealed the omnipotent Q is still alive despite his apparent death in the season 2 finale - but how?

The Star Trek: Picard season 3 finale included a post-credits scene revealing that everyone's favorite omnipotent trickster, Q , is still alive despite his apparent death in season 2. Since his introduction in TNG's "Encounter at Farpoint," Q has been a thorn in the side of many Starfleet captains, but he always displayed a certain fondness for Captain Picard .

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In the Star Trek: Voyager episode, "Death Wish," a member of the Q collective ends up on Captain Janeway's ship wishing to end his life. He claims that he has experienced all there is to offer and just wants it to end, but he must be turned mortal in order to die. This suggests that the Q really do live forever and are incapable of dying .

The evolutionary process of the Q Continuum is unknown, so it could be that Q's "death" was just the next step in his evolution. It's also possible that the answer could somehow involve Q's seemingly forgotten son. As seen in the Voyager episode "Q2," Q Jr. was as equally mischievous as his father and could be connected to this new Q in some way that isn't yet apparent.

Star Trek: Legacy’s Q Was Resurrected After Picard Season 2 Another possibility is that Q was somehow resurrected by someone or something. The Q Collective has been a mysterious presence since they were first mentioned in TNG, and it's unclear what they have been up to all this time. Perhaps they brought Q back to serve some as-yet-unknown purpose. Q has always been particularly interested in Picard, so it makes sense that he would be equally interested in Picard's son, Jack.

Maybe Q was stubborn enough to resurrect himself just to have the joy of annoying another member of the Picard family. There is also likely far more to Q's return than he can or would reveal in a brief end-credits scene where he introduced himself to Jack Crusher. Whether this is a new and improved Q or a Q from the past, there are many different directions Star Trek: Legacy could pick up this story that was teased in Star Trek: Picard. After all, the trial never ends.
