After roles this year in 'Clue' and 'Born with Teeth,' he's now Bob Cratchit in the Alley Theatre's take on 'A Christmas Carol'

“There's like two lines that are in the script, and then it says, ‘Freeform improv,’,” he said in a recent interview. “I just ran with that. It was so stupid. Some nights, maybe I died like five times.” Tall, lanky, and spring-loaded with energy, Godwin, 38, has been rather visible at Alley of late. He played Shakespeare, opposite Matthew Amendt’s Christopher Marlowe, in “Born With Teeth.” That was him on that big “Clue” billboard off Interstate 10 during that show’s run. That’s him, smiling in a mustache and stovepipe hat with an urchin-like boy on his shoulders, in the posters for Alley’s production of “A Christmas Carol,” which runs Nov. 18 through Dec. 30.
