Genya Shinazugawa is one of the few characters in the series with both Demon and Demon Slayer-esque powers, and here's exactly how they work.
Demon Slayer might be the best modern-day shōnen series around. There's no denying the overwhelming quality that the franchise brings to the table, and the series itself has done more for the genre than nearly every other series it competes against.
Demon Slayer works because of how straightforward it is. At its core, it's a story about revenge, justice, and perseverance, and its amazing characters reflect that simplicity perfectly. There is one character, however, a little more complicated than the rest. Genya Shinazugawa, sometimes jokingly referred to as the"Shotgun Hashira," has a few abilities that no other character in the series can compare to.
He's doing his own thing, and while his abilities might seem a little confusing, they're not too hard to understand after a brief breakdown. Demon Slayer Is an Exceptional Shōnen Series In a few decades, we'll be looking back at the 2020s and fully realize just how dominant Demon Slayer has been. It's the anime series that has defined this generation, changing the course of anime for the foreseeable future at the very least.
The Demon Slayer films might have changed anime permanently, and that might not actually be a good thing. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was such a success that the finale of Demon Slayer is going to be turned into a three-part film saga, and because of Infinity Castle's success, scores of anime franchises are following Tanjiro to the movie theaters.

Posts 2 By Lauren Kells It's a massive change in how anime franchises have approached making films. There's no telling how long this change will last, but at the very least, audiences will be in store for some of the most visually-striking films in years.
All the Hashira have amazing powers through their swords. Even Tanjiro, someone who might as well be considered a Hashira at this point, looks amazing on the big screen. While each of the Hashira base their powers on a single concept, Genya's abilities are far from simple, but they're not impossible to understand. Genya's Powers Are Relatively Straightforward Genya Shinazugawa is an unapologetic Demon Slayer.
His fighting style couldn't be more different from his fellow Slayers, and that's just one of the reasons why he lights up the screen every time he appears. He's the younger brother of the brutal Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and the pair don't get along in the slightest. Notably, Genya is the only character in Demon Slayer to use a gun.
While Tanjiro and the rest of the Demon Slayers fight the Demons with katanas, Genya has a shotgun and a short sword. Genya is also different from his fellow Hashira in that he's part Demon. After consuming Demon flesh, Genya has gained some of the same abilities that Demons use.

Genya can regenerate parts of his body, has a supernatural amount of strength, and a ridiculous amount of speed. His strength was given a chance to shine during the Swordsmith Training Arc when he uprooted an entire tree and launched it at Hantengu with enough force to rival one of his shotgun shells.
Genya's consumption of Demon flesh has permanently changed him as a person, and the Demon Slayers are going to need that power if they're going to defeat Muzan, Kokushibo, and the rest of the deadly Demons waiting for them in the next film in the Demon Slayer franchise.
