Exclusive: Chris Pratt explained to Screen Rant at SDCC how Gamora's death will impact Star-Lord in GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 'It opens the Guardians up to [attack] and makes them vulnerable. That's where you catch him.'

Chris Pratt explains how Gamora's death impacts Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gamora is played by actress Zoe Saldaña, who first appeared alongside Pratt's Peter Quill/Star-Lord in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. The two characters shared a romantic bond in the film, which evolved well into 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Gamora and Star-Lord come face-to-face, but she has no memory of him. When Thanos is defeated, Star-Lord is seen plotting his next course with Thor joining them for the journey, but Gamora is nowhere to be seen. In Thor: Love and Thunder, the Guardians are seen still traveling with Thor, but without Gamora and with no explanation as to her whereabouts. Director James Gunn has said that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.

Gamora is the love of Star-Lord's life; the romantic love of his life. He's dealt with the loss of Yondu, and of course of his mother. And now he's dealing with the loss of Gamora, the one person he found who truly knew him and loved him. She doesn't know who he is. That's really had a profound impact on him personally, and his ability to be a leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It opens the Guardians up to [attack] and makes them vulnerable.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 trailer shown at Comic-Con revealed a few nuggets of information about the"new" Gamora in the film, who is shown as the leader of The Ravagers, a role previously held by Michael Rooker's Yondu, who died in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. A scene in the trailer also details Star-Lord opening up to Gamora, which shows that he is still attempting to reconnect with her, even if she's not the same Gamora he originally fell in love with.

Having Gamora and Star-Lord dealing with their new roles after the defeat of Thanos will make for some interesting drama for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is a nice change of pace for a sequel, as it allows the relationship to face a new challenge rather than grow stale over time. Given the strong reaction to the trailer shown at Comic-Con, it appears that Star-Lord and Gamora's story won't be the only relationship to cause fans to get emotional.
