'Fargo' showrunner Noah Hawley tells Entertainment Weekly how he created the suspense and tension during Juno Temple and Lamorne Morris' double gas station standoff against Ole Munch in the season 5 premiere.
Series showrunner Noah Hawley, who is nominated for three Emmys, tells EW how he created Dot and Witt's fight against Ole Munch in the season 5 premiere.with over five years of experience covering the latest in entertainment. After giving her captors the slip during the traffic stop, Dot flees into a nearby gas station and meets a now-wounded Witt. There, the pair form an unlikely alliance as they fight for their survival, with Witt defending the store's front doors from Munch while Dot subdues Donny in the back bathroom. The dimly-lit, dramatic sequence took five days to complete — two of which were spent filming the drive-by and exterior scenes, with the other three capturing the quartet’s shootout.
He continues, “So Juno entering the bathroom with the two bags of ice and Lamorne, sitting with his wounded leg, looking out the front door... tracking those two suspenseful moments simultaneously, I really had to think through both shots and the pieces that go into telling her story in there and his story out there.”
