The Crimson Tide didn't drop that far in the coaches poll, despite losing in the Sweet 16.
The Tide was No. 4 inof the 2022-23 men’s basketball coaches poll, which is voted upon by 32 NABC head coaches -- including Alabama’s Nate Oats -- and compiled by the USA Today.
UConn ranked No. 1 and received all 32 first-place votes after winning Monday’s national championship game. The loser, San Diego State, was No. 2. The Aztecs were followed by No. 3 Miami, which lost to UConn in the Final Four. But Alabama edged No. 5 Florida Atlantic for the fourth spot in the poll, despite the Owls making the Final Four and the Tide losing to San Diego State in the Sweet 16.
Alabama entered the NCAA tournament ranked No. 2 in the coaches poll behind Houston. Both teams lost in the Sweet 16, with the Cougars falling to Miami. Houston fell to No. 6 in the final poll.
