Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is in the middle of a historic run, and teams could start to pay extra attention to him because of it.
had worked on the back-shoulder fades a lot during training camp, and Hurts trusted Brown would make catches on that play like he did in the summer. Hurts’ faith was rewarded, with Brown making a one-handed catch that led to a momentum-changing touchdown that helped the Eagles win the game.
Brown is showing off how well he runs the route tree, especially in last Sunday’s win over the Washington Commanders, as seen on thisBrown has run his routes effectively on the fades and on dig and crossing routes in the middle of the field. Brown is also not getting his catches on the outside. He is getting open in the slot and getting first downs.
If teams begin to “bracket” Brown and essentially double-team him. If that is the case, the Eagles offense can still continue to succeed, with Smith and tight endlikely being the benefactors of the change. Smith has caught 39 passes for 482 yards and three touchdowns this season. Smith has shown he can get open, especially going one-on-one, because of his ability to run crisp routes, allowing him to get open.
