More snow has fallen this winter than at least seven others in the last 50 years.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio’s most recent snowfall continues to increase this winter’s total, with the 2024-25 season shaping up to be snowier than in several recent years. Cleveland received three more inches of snow this week, as officially measured by the National Weather Service at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport.

The three inches brings the season’s accumulation total to 31.6 inches, making it higher than the total snowfall for seven other winters in Cleveland in the last 50 years. This winter already beat out total winter snow accumulation numbers for the 2022-23 season, at 22.7 inches, and the 2023-24 season, at 24.3 inches, the lowest snowfall in Cleveland for decades. But it also beat out 2015-16, which only had 25 inches by mid-March, 2001-02 , 2019-20 , 2018-19 and 1982-83 . While snowfall at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport marks the official snow count for the Cleveland area, other places received more than 3 inches of snow just yesterday. In the last 24 hours, Monroe Center in Ashtabula County saw 10 inches of snow, according to National Weather Service snow spotters. Additionally, South Madison saw 3.7 inches and Conneaut saw 3.2 inches. In Cuyahoga County, Richmond Heights received 7 inches of snow, followed by Pepper Pike and Chagrin Falls , Broadview Heights , Shaker Heights , North Royalton , Woodmere , Bay Village , and North Olmsted and Cleveland Heights . Finally, Russell Center and Burton in Geauga County saw over five inches, followed by South Thompson with 3.8 inches. But even though this winter has had more snow now than others had all season, it doesn’t mean it’s over. There are still a couple weeks left of the official winter season, and the possibility of more snow. But perhaps not right away. After the snow that will finish Friday night, temperatures will rise until they reach a high of 43 degrees on Monday. These warmer temperatures mean snow will not fall, but rain is forecasted by Monday night and into Tuesday.Education’s impact on Ohio salaries: Census data breakdownIf you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.and agree that your clicks, interactions, and personal information may be collected, recorded, and/or stored by us and social media and other third-party partners in accordance with our
