Champagne problems will be your latest holiday obsession, and the ending of the Minka Kelly Christmas film makes it the perfect love story
If you’re looking for your next feel-good holiday obsession, Netflix’s Champagne Problems has you covered. The new Christmas movie starring Minka Kelly and Tom Wozniczka as romantic leads is a picture-perfect rom-com with plenty of holiday magic.
With beautiful views of Paris at Christmastime and no shortage of steamy moments, the allure of Champagne Problems is comparable to holiday classics like Love Actually or The Holiday if you ask Us.The film tells the tale of Sydney Price and Henri Cassell , who have a rendezvous one night in France before she realizes his father is one of her prospective clients. Sydney faces the reality of mixing business with pleasure, fighting her feelings for Henri and the desire to make a huge deal for her company. Is their romance built to last, or is Sydney not willing to risk her career for a chance at love abroad? Scroll below to find out how the film ends:In addition to Kelly and Wozniczka, Thibault de Montalembert portrays Henri’s dad, Hugo Cassell. Sean Amsing, Flula Borg, Astrid Whettnall, Xavier Samuel, Mitchell Mullen and Maeve Courtier-Lilley round out the main cast.“An ambitious M&A executive travels to France to secure the acquisition of a world-renowned champagne brand before Christmas, but her plans are upended when she falls into a whirlwind romance with a charming Parisian — who turns out to be the founder's son,” the logline says. Sydney first meets Henri at a bookstore and is captivated by his passion for literature. He decides to show her around Paris, bringing her sightseeing and taking her to a holiday market. He reveals that he hopes to one day own a bookstore of his own with a champagne bar in the back, however, his father just wants him to take over the family business. Sparks fly and Sydney and Henri end up sleeping together after their night out. The next morning, Sydney goes to meet with a champagne brand, which she shockingly comes to find is run by Henri’s father. Sydney tries to remain focused on the “huge opportunity” that Hugo’s champagne business has presented to her firm. She’s invited to spend time at the Cassell family’s chalet, which happens to be a dreamy location, but becomes the site of sexual tension between Sydney and Henri. “You and I could never work,” Henri tells Sydney. “Your company raids small businesses, and I came to protect my father.” Soon, it becomes hard for Sydney to fight her feelings for Henri. “Honey, you fell in love in Paris and then a cruel twist of fate turned you into star-crossed lovers,” Sydney’s businessman Roberto tells her. “It’s Moulin Rouge! without the tuberculosis.” More challenges arise for Sydney as she finds out that her company plans on buying the Cassell’s champagne business and immediately hopes to sell it to another buyer. She talks with Ryan about the crooked business method, but Henri eavesdrops on the conversation and believes Sydney is a liar who only cares about making money. Henri ends things with Sydney before she has a chance to explain herself. If you’re a sucker for a happy ending like Us, you’re in luck. Sydney tells Hugo the truth about the business plan and encourages him not to sell his company. She loses her job and plans to return home. But before she leaves, she decides to stop by the bookstore that she first met Henri in so that she can say goodbye to him. He apologizes for not trusting her and they reconcile. Sydney admits she fell in love with Paris and with Henri. She and Henri stay together, and a one-year time jump reveals they ended up opening up a bookstore with a champagne/wine bar in the back, a dream he expressed to her at the start of the film.
