Apple TV+’s adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation novels made changes to the source material, including how soon the Prime Radiant comes into play. Foundation season 2 also introduced the concept of a second Foundation quite early compared to the books.
Foundation’s Lady Demerzel is an example of a character whose role in the books is very different from the show. Those changes worked, as Demerzel is arguably one of the best Foundation characters. Demerzel’s story was particularly interesting in Foundation season 2, which revealed her backstory and true purpose. Foundation season 2’s finale confirmed how important Demerzel is to the story, and it ended with her in possession of Hari Seldon’s Prime Radiant.
Demerzel Got The Prime Radiant From Hari Seldon's Vault Both Demerzel and Brother Day entered Hari Seldon’s Vault, the one that has been on Terminus since the creation of the Foundation. As Cleon said, the Prime Radiant was created by Seldon in a Trentor university and therefore belongs to the Empire. Demerzel and Cleon were both willing to destroy Terminus and everyone in it, although Demerzel left the planet to deal with more urgent matters.
What Demerzel Having The Prime Radiant Means For Foundation Season 3 The most important part of Hari Seldon’s prediction for the future is that the Galactic Empire will eventually fall. This is what has caused tension between the Empire and the Foundation for more than a century now, as Seldon’s predictions argue that the Empire will cease to exist. Demerzel now has access to all of the calculations that serve as the basis for such predictions.
Technically, there is only one Prime Radiant. However, the artifact can exist in two places at the same time, meaning that there are essentially two. The two versions of the Prime Radiant are connected, which is how Salvor Hardin could communicate with the other Hari Seldon. In other words, Lady Demerzel can now reach out to the real Hari Seldon and Gaal, as they have the other Prime Radiant.
