China, the world's second largest economy, is under threat as the pandemic wipes out jobs and slows productivity and growth.
"Even in the midst of this global pandemic, which began in China, for which China must ultimately claim a significant degree of responsibility, it has not deterred the Chinese leadership from pursuing additional objectives like the Belt and Road," Economy said Tuesday., announced in 2013 as a path to gain a cultural and economic foothold in the global economy. "It's trying to use its masked diplomacy to frankly mask its original culpability at the outset of the crisis," she said. But I think there's an accounting that has yet to occur in terms of, where and why this started and how it's spread and I think that that judgment day will come.
