Both had just gone through difficult divorces — Stefani from Gavin Rossdale and Shelton from Miranda Lambert.
'I think he really wanted to impress me, because he doesn't really write songs as much as he used to. And I love writing songs,' she shared.Shelton, who wasn't writing as much at the time, sent Stefani a half-finished song, 'Go Ahead and Break My Heart,' asking for her help to complete it. The result was the first song they ever wrote together, although they were never in the same room during the process.
