It's illegal to own a pet coatimundi in San Antonio. Here's how one may have ended up here.

According to ACS, a coatimundi, or coati for short, was someone's pet and ended up at a neighbor's home. Owning this particular animal is against city ordinance and could result in the animal's confiscation and a $2,000 fine. Perez also said coatimundi are often sold by breeders"under the guise of 'preservation.'" The coatimundis' natural tropical habitat of Central and South America is facing rampant deforestation.
