Every day, you see the latest story on how AI is changing the world. In fact, no other technology has made a greater impact in such a short period of time. In software development, we've seen several companies introduce AI copilots to assist developers with code creation, but AI is expected to have a more far-reaching impact on DevOps., which would impact the entire software development life cycle.

The CD phase still isn't there yet. It’s a much more difficult task that requires greater automation. In fact, the word"continuous" doesn't make much sense for most businesses. Business-to-consumer companies like Netflix and Google adopted CD to deliver small changes to users as soon as they were ready. For most large companies, there are regulatory and compliance issues to deal with that slow down delivery.

As noted above, the continuous delivery phase relies on handcrafted scripts, resulting in a system that's unable to quickly change with shifting business needs. Intelligent DevOps enables compliance, IT operations and the business to set priorities in a declarative manner with the underlying AI-driven platform to move changes through the system according to the needs of the business while still obeying all of the rules set by industry-specific regulations.

Huge costs can also be incurred when defects make it to production, especially if there's associated downtime or security breaches. Intelligent DevOps could significantly reduce these defects by identifying them earlier in the process.
