The first setback isn’t likely to phase him. He has had to spend much of his career trying to prove to people that he belongs with the best. What’s one more race? “I remember one of our neighbors had a grape tree,” Traore said, “and I’d always go on his tree and steal some grapes.” Neither did Traore. He earned a degree in Information Technology Management from Ramapo and figured he would put it to use when he graduated. But with a fifth year of eligibility remaining, Traore transferred to Penn State where he proved that divisions don’t matter when you’re just really fast.
