The Houston area is seeing a shift from the recent snow and ice event with temperatures returning above freezing. While some lingering ice patches are possible, the forecast suggests a mostly sunny week with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. Rain chances will increase as the weekend approaches, with a higher probability of showers or thunderstorms on Sunday and into early next week.
Temperatures have climbed back above freezing in Houston , and the snow and ice are on the way out. The freezing temperatures will return overnight, but just barely. There could be ice in some areas on Thursday morning on bridges and in shaded areas. \We expect to see rain later in the week after a cold start to the day with temperatures below freezing. Still, watch out for a few icy spots, especially on bridges and overpasses.
Areas that have constantly been in the shade have a higher shot for some lingering ice on the roads as well. Highs will reach the 50s on Thursday after a cold start. We expect it to be mostly sunny for the day, which will help get the melted snow and ice evaporate. \Friday we will be back in the 50s with sunshine. It should be a nice winter weather. As we get into the weekend, we start bringing back some clouds. There is a bit less stability overall. We currently have the rain chances at 20 percent. With high temperatures in the 60s there is not a shot at any more snow or ice. As we head to Sunday our chances of rain will increase. The chance of showers or thunderstorms is at 60 percent. Highs will be in the upper 60s. The rain chances will stick around for the beginning of the work week. As of Wednesday afternoon, there is a 40 percent chance of rain Monday and 50 percent on Tuesday.
