Spring was ranked second in the nation for GoFundMe donations per capita in 2022.
Spring was outdone only by Marietta, Ga., which took the No. 1 spot on the national list. It also marked the third consecutive year Spring made the list, landing among the top two each time.
She said crowdfunding is so popular in part because it is a way for people to feel they're part of something bigger than themselves. Eric Krueger, 47, had been driving back to his office after a lunch meeting June 30 when he suddenly was hit head-on by an allegedly drunken driver. Krueger died in the crash.
The money the family received from the fundraiser has gone to funeral expenses, college tuition, bills and unexpected expenses that have come up here and there, Ashlee Krueger said.Ashlee Krueger said Eric was a humble and giving person. He was a project manager at Double D industries, a utility construction company, and she is a registered nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital.
