Sunday, March 8, 2026 2:51PMStorms swept through Houston Saturday night into Sunday morning, leaving roads slick and flooded in several areas, and creating hazardous conditions for drivers. Overnight, crews worked to remove a large tree that fell along South Voss Road near Memorial, blocking the roadway.
Crews at the scene chopped the tree into smaller pieces to make removal easier. Also, overnight, heavy rain filled Buffalo Bayou. Water could be seen flowing downtown near Rusk Street. A couple of vehicles were stalled along the I-45 entrance ramp from St. Joseph to downtown. The water eventually receded enough for a single lane to get through. On Highway 288 at Calumet Street, several drivers on the inbound lanes could not make it through the high waters. Police said the slick conditions along Highway 288 may have contributed to a crash involving at least two vehicles. The impact was reportedly strong enough to deploy airbags in one of the cars.Copyright © 2026 KTRK-TV. All Rights Reserved.
