Houston small businesses say they could survive a recession, survey finds
Rick Rodriguez, Bank of America senior vice president and market manager in Houston, has seen consistent optimism from local business owners who have responded to the annual survey over the years.
Despite their confidence, business owners are more pessimistic about the national economy. Slightly more than half of Houston small-business owners expect the national economy to improve within the next year. Nationally, about 1 in 3 expect the U.S. economy to get better. "It is abundantly clear it's hard to keep and retain their employees," Rodriguez said."They also want to grow, and in order to grow they need to find employees."
