Theatre Southwest will hold auditions for its first Spring 2023 show,"Silent Sky," written by Lauren Gunderson on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023.Theatre Southwest is gearing up for its 2023 season and will soon hold auditions for its spring show.

The spring 2023 show is “Silent Sky” written by Lauren Gunderson. According to a news release, the play will be directed by Sam Martinez, who directed Theatre Southwest’s production of “The Wisdom of Eve” in 2021. “Silent Sky” is a story based on the real life of Henrietta Leavitt, “a brilliant, history making woman previously unknown to most of us. When Henrietta Leavitt begins work at the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900s, she isn't allowed to touch a telescope or express an original idea. Instead, she joins a group of women ‘computers,’ charting stars for a renowned astronomer.”

Auditions will take place on Jan. 8 and 9 from 7-10 p.m. at 8944-A Clarkcrest Drive. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. All roles are available.— 30s; Brilliant, meticulous and non-traditional, Henrietta aspires to work as an astronomer. She is passionate about her astronomical work and feels compelled to find answers to her questions about the universe.
