To kick off its presence in the area, the sporting- and recreational-goods retailer said it plans to partner with Indianapolis' NFL team on community events, social media and digital content. Academy also has partnerships with the Astros, Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans, among others.
Products in the new Indiana stores will focus on gear for fall sports, equipment for the area's running and biking trails, hunting, and lake activities, Academy Chief Marketing Officer Lawrence Lobpries said in a statement. An Academy store that opened in April in Lafayette, Ind., is one of its best performing new stores in recent years, executives said this month.
