A 3-month-old, left unsupervised, died in a hot car Tuesday. The Houston Police Department has started an investigation into the child’s death.

According to officials, a mother of two had been visiting the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD. She took her 4-year-old child inside with her, but left the baby in the car.When the mother returned to the car, she found her baby boy unresponsive. She brought him inside the facility and authorities were called at 3:25 p.m. He received cared until paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital. The 3-month-old was later pronounced dead.“Houston gets very hot.
“A child’s body temperature rises three to five times faster than an adult’s. When a child is left in a vehicle, that child’s temperature can rise quickly — and the situation can quickly become dangerous,” per NHTSA. No charges have followed from this incident as of yet, police say. An investigation continues, and both parents of the deceased child are cooperating.
