Houston mother who drowned her two children in a bathtub pleads guilty, gets 40 years in prison
In August 2016, Sheborah Latrice Thomas drowned her daughter, 5-year-old Kayiana Thomas, and her son, 7-year-old Araylon “Ray Ray” Thomas, in the bathtub of their home in southeast Houston.
“This mother knew what she was doing, she knew it was wrong, and we vowed to seek justice for these two children,” District Attorney Kim Ogg said. “This plea agreement means that family members will not have to testify and this woman cannot appeal her conviction or the sentence.”Houston adoptive father of 9 used religion, social media to mask abuse of children, prosecutors say
A friend contacted police after she told him she had drowned her children and was leaving town. He initially thought Thomas was joking, but she told him where the children’s bodies could be found.by Child Protective Services for child neglect. The children were removed from her care at least once while Thomas was unhoused in 2012 and using marijuana and PCP.
