Houston, Harris County leaders hope to set a record at third gun buyback

A third city-county buyback event is underway Saturday at Deussen Park.Houston officials said they hope to set a record for weapons collected as they readied to open the city and county's third gun buyback Saturday.
The buyback, the third in the last eight months, is being held at Deussen Park on 12303 Sonnier St. It ends at noon. Ellis, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez worked together for the event. The city and county collected more than 2,000 firearms during two buyback events held in July and October.
