A line of storms moving through southeast Texas Tuesday Night will bring a risk for hail and strong winds. Flooding will become the main concern as storm chances continue all week.
Tuesday starts dry, but it doesn’t end that way. A line of storms moves out of North Texas and into Southeast Texas on Tuesday night.
This is the first round of several waves of widespread rain and storms. Houston remains in an unsettled pattern all week. There is even potential for excessive rainfall as this system moves through, with weekly rainfall totals currently estimated at 3 to 5 inches or more. Watch for flooding through the end of the week.
Isolated strong to severe storms are possible. Southeast Texas could pick up 1-3 inches of rain Tuesday into Wednesday, with even more rain to follow all week. Ample dry time on Tuesday, so both the morning and evening commute are smooth sailing. Storms don’t arrive until after 6 PM north of Harris County.
The line of storms reaches Houston by midnight and will continue to the coast in two waves through 4 AM. Rain will continue through the Wednesday morning commute, but instead of heavy downpours, it will be a steady light rain. With daily rain chances over the next 7 days, some areas north of Harris County see more than 5 inches of rain! Watch for street flooding, especially in low-lying areas with poor drainage.
