Houston begins countdown to 2024 college football championship, which will be held at NRG Stadium
It marks the first time the city will host the football championship. Houston also is hosting the
this year, at Toyota Center in March, and is one of the cities that will host games during the 2026 World Cup."The College Football Playoffs will be a source of pride for Houstonians and will show Houston is a positive light to a national audience," Mayor Sylvester Turner said. A delegation from Houston was on hand to watch Georgia's victory over Texas Christian University last month, in Los Angeles.
Houston's edition will be played Jan. 8, 2024, which — as the host committee's website now says — is 333 days away.
