A multibillion-rand housing project in Middelvlei on the West Rand has turned into a white elephant as contractors and other service providers abandoned it a year ago, claiming that developer, Sam Comfort Mhlaba, failed to pay them for services rendered

Mhlaba’s company was awarded the R11 billion tender in October 2017 by the Gauteng human settlements department to build low-cost houses for the community and military veterans.
