Households who are struggling financially are being urged to apply for a £145 payment on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis – before the money runs out. The money is being paid out in cash and is funded by the Household Support Fund .
Elsewhere in the country, families in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, are to get a £75 cash boost to help them pay for the weekly food shop.Meanwhile, families with school-aged children in Medway can get up to £825. The local authority explained: ‘The Department of Work and Pensions has provided local government with the Household Support Fund for the period April 2024 – September 2024.
They will then be given a unique reference number by the partner and a link to an online application form, to enable them to apply for the £145 cash payment. What is the Household Support Fund? The HSF is a government-funded scheme that has been helping families in England since 2021.
