'House of Villains' showrunner John Irwin teases 'biggest twist yet' ahead of a major showdown in episode 3, and 'Entertainment Weekly' takes you behind-the-scenes of the pivotal moment.
Sydney Bucksbaum is a writer at Entertainment Weekly covering all things pop culture – but TV is her one true love. She currently lives in Los Angeles but grew up in Chicago so please don't make fun of her accent when it slips out.'s Larissa Lima — there's no delicate way to say this, but the comicly large chest is a dead giveaway. It's the morning after her explosive ejection frombut the producers haven't filmed her doll's equally animated elimination yet.
It's just another day on the set of E!'s wacky, unserious, meta competition series. It's a Sunday evening in early March, and thecast and producers have been having a relatively low-key time in the hours after Lima was sent packing.
He's right to not trust it — unbeknownst to the rest of the unassuming cast, the party is actually going to be the second Battle Royale challenge of the season, where they'll fight to become the Supervillain of the Week with guaranteed safety from the next elimination. But that's not the first big twist of the episode. As viewers saw at the end of episode 2, when Lima was thrown backward into the wall after her elimination, the chair came swinging back down.
"It's the biggest twist yet that we brought in this year," showrunner John Irwin tells EW on set. "We eliminated Larissa, the chair flies back, and then all of a sudden, the chair comes back and it's . They were losing their minds. You never know what’s going to happen. We’ve injected other things too, and it's all about keeping things fresh."It's a philosophy that the cast members are taking to heart, too.
